The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
